The 15th Annual Asa G. Hilliard III and Barbara A. Sizemore Research Course on African Americans and Education will take place on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025 at the University of Colorado Denver before the 2025 Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association.
The research course pairs early career scholars and advanced graduate students directly with established researchers to explore questions and methods related to the experiences of African Americans in education. Participants are exposed to the fundamentals of developing a research agenda and career focused on conducting research on African American populations in education.
Participants of the Hilliard-Sizemore Research Course learn from and network with some of the most respected scholars studying and advancing the experiences of American Americans in education. Presenters for the 2025 Course include:

· Jamal Watson, PhD – Diverse: Issues in Higher Education
· Adriel Hilton, PhD – Washington Department of Youth and Families
The course is co-hosted by the Organizational Disparities Laboratory (ODL) at Michigan State University and The Urban Educational Collaborative at University of North Carolina – Charlotte and co-directed by Jerlando F. L. Jackson, PhD - Director and Chief Research Scientist of the ODL, and Chance W. Lewis, PhD – Director of the Urban Education Collaborative.
